With an early arrival into Nairobi, you will be met and transferred to the domestic airport for the short but spectacular scenic flight to private Lewa Conservancy. (Note: accommodation can be organised in Nairobi if a later flight arrival is booked).

After lunch and settling into your private cottage, depart on your first thrilling game drive with an expert guide.

Before a tasty dinner prepared with fresh local ingredients, the evenings are usually spent around a roaring log fire in the cosy main sitting room, or outside by the campfire – reliving the experiences of the day.

Lewa House

Lewa House is a magical safari lodge located in a private game rich area. Just 9 rooms and cottages (including 3 interconnecting family suites) and an owner-run operation make this a unique safari treat far away from the crowds.

With visiting wildlife all around, you can even watch game from your bed! And Lewa has some of the most stunning scenery in Africa – with dramatic backdrops of Mount Kenya and the wildife-rich plains which surround it. It is a photographer’s paradise.

Activities are varied and as well as the usual game drives there is also an emphasis on getting out into the bush and learning about the conservation initiatives. Hence you can go on a Big Five safari in the open topped vehicles, but also get out on foot with a qualified trails guide to learn about the tracks, trails, sounds and smells of the wilderness.

A highlight for those interested in conservation is a chance to visit the Conservancy HQ to learn more about their conservation and community work – with special experiences being viewing a display by the anti-poaching tracker dogs or visiting a local school or community project.

The Ngare Ndare 40ft high canopy walk is a great place to experience life in the forest canopy and you can frequently view elephant and buffalo from the leafy elevated platform at the end.

Following a walking safari where better to cool off than the beautiful local waterfalls, with a forest picnic nearby.

About Lewa Conservancy

Lewa started out as a 5,000 acre rhino sanctuary, but has grown to become a leading model for conservation and community development.

Activities can be modified to the taste and style of your group, but to keep young ones interested we suggest a programme of varied experiences.

AM – An early morning bush walk with trained guide Calum, followed by a bush breakfast in some of Africa’s most stunning scenery.

Lunch and relaxation by the pool or watching wildlife at the waterhole.

PM – Camel riding experience through the bush with the Maasai.

Dinner and tall safari ‘tales’ around the fire.

AM – Ngare Ndare Forest visit with picnic lunch. Climb high up into the canopy walkway to watch wildlife and afterwards swim in the crystal clear pools beneath the Ngare Ndare Waterfalls.

AM – Game drive with visit to archaeological site (stone tools over 500,000 years old)

PM – Game drive with Sundowner drinks

AM – A visit to a LWC sponsored school or community project/game drive.

PM – Lunch next to a spring with crabbing and a camel ride

Depart by road for the airport and your short scenic flight back to Nairobi.
